On the heels of the Minnesota Community Education Association (MCEA) fall conference, we packed up our team and headed south to Phoenix where we took part in the Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence 2016 conference. This was our first time participating in this event. We attend the annual Arizona Community Education Association conference in the Spring, but wanted to engage with afterschool staff to better understand their needs.
This conference was a great opportunity to talk to site staff and school directors about their programs and how they operate. We learned a great deal about the issues facing programs across Arizona and the time spent managing student registration, late pick up fees, and managing family accounts.
It came as no surprise that many site staff don’t have the tools necessary to efficiently run their programs. We heard one of the biggest issues facing afterschool programs was the registration process, which many schools said still involves pen and paper. “We still require paper registrations, but would love to explore other ways for parents to register their children,” said one individual.

Not only does Eleyo provide an efficient and parent-friendly registration portal, we also provide a solution to many afterschool program’s sign-in/sign-out process. “I would love the ability for a parent to sign-in their child with an iPad,” said many site staff. This is a feature available through Eleyo that sets us apart from other vendors. Our attendance app captures parent signatures, with a time stamp, and will even add late pick-up fees to family accounts.
We look forward to participating in more community education and afterschool events in Arizona. Be on the lookout for our “Green Team” as we take part in other events across the country in 2017. If you know of an event that we should be a part of, please send us a line at hello@eleyo.com.
